About Me
I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to Venezuelan parents and was raised between USA and Venezuela. I obtained my first years of training in Venezuelan Danza Nacionalista in the Danzas Guanaguanare School of Dance. This dance genre requires students to train in different styles to create integral dancers. There,I studied ballet, jazz, and latin american folklore. I trained with acclaimed Venezuelan dance masters such as Yolanda Moreno, Marcos Yepez, Arelis Gonzalez and William Palencia among others.
In 1991 I started my career as a dance teacher, choreographer and artistic director. I founded groups in the city of Valencia in Venezuela such as: Danzas Nacionalistas UC, Danzas Carabobo and Danzas Karau. With them I represented the state of Carabobo in national dance competitions. Meanwhile, I took flamenco classes at the Lilian Lizarraga School of Spanish Dance and at Veronica Gomez Flamenco School. Also, I took ballet and jazz classes and workshops. In 1998 I graduated as an Economist from the Universidad de Carabobo.
I came back to USA in the year 2000 to obtain a B.A in dance. My studies developed at the University of New Mexico in Alburquerque, NM and Florida International University in Miami, FL. During that time I trained intensively with dance masters such as: Gary Lund, Bill Evans, Marianna Alvarez, Leslie Neal, Elena Garcia, Eva Encinias, Rosa Mercedes. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in the year 2001. After, I was a member of the Spanish Dance Company Duende Ballet Español for three years. In the year 2005 I finished a Master in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. In 2008 I created Alegria Performing Arts as an alternative in dance education for the Miami community based on the principles and standards of integrity by which I was raised as an artist and a citizen.
Currently, I am focusing on the production and promotion of artistic and entertainment events. I update my dance training by participating in workshops and teacher trainings. I teach at Carrolton School of the Sacred Heart and I ocasionally perform at cultural events.
